Located in Delray Beach, Florida, the Wakodahatchee Wetlands has an area of 50 acres (200,000 sqm). It was originally an unused utility land but was later transformed into recreation wetlands, which is now open to the public. The park highlights a three-quarter mile boardwalk which, stretches across fields of pastoral lands and ponds, serves as an excellent getaway for those who love to stay close to nature.

The boardwalk, the part of the South section of the Great Florida Birding Trail, is also an excellent spot for bird watchers. Over 151 species of birds have been noted inside the park, including Pied-billed Grebe, Snowy Egret, and Black-bellied Whistling Ducks. The park is also home to turtles, alligators, rabbits, frogs, and raccoon.

Around one million gallons of highly treated water is supplied for the Wakodahatchee Wetlands every day. The park really is a jewel for tourists, bird lovers, and naturalists. (Photo by Jianmin Ren)
